Merqury shares its body with Que, so most Que reviews apply; the differences are the cable and the ear tips.

Que's metal faceplate has a surface coating. Merqury removes it and keeps the CNC machining texture, so the feel and shine of the metal itself stand out. It looks brighter, and that high-polish look is where the name "Merqury" comes from. With no coating there is no coating to wear, so the faceplate still looks like this after years of use.

This is where Merqury changes the most. Que's original cable is a two-strand design; Merqury upgrades to a four-strand braid with 7N single-crystal copper and graphene-plated single-crystal copper conductors, which sounds slightly more open and more powerful. The CNC metal hardware on the cable was also redesigned in the same design language as the shells. The included DIVINUS VELVET ear tips were settled only after a round of testing by the maker: more powerful bass, better imaging and layering. Que is especially sensitive to ear tips, so the tips are not an accessory; they are part of Merqury's sound.

The maker is candid about it: Merqury's body and acoustic design are not changed, and it is not a retuned version. The change in sound comes mainly from the new cable and the newly chosen ear tips. If you have heard Que, you already know Merqury's foundation; the difference is the openness and power from the cable, and the effect of the VELVET tips on bass and separation. 399 numbered units worldwide.
